Small Miracles came to me when I was at a low ebb, doubting myself, questioning every move I made. I wrote it to give these things some clarity, a bit of self-reflection, some self-therapy. I looked at what it meant to me to do what I was doing, the fine details, celebrating the small victories, celebrating the journey and how far I'd come, despite the destination remaining out of reach. It's a song that I feel exudes hope, a quiet defiance.

Lyrics

Her stony silent watching ripped my confidence to shreds
Maybe I’d be better off doing anything else instead
Then in a single moment a solitary teardrop fell
The look of pride in her sparkling eyes told me all she needed to tell

These are small miracles
They’re still miracles my friends
These are small miracles
They’re still miracles my friends

If I shot for what I wanted and I missed by a mile
I’d be a mile further from home but at least I could smile
With satisfaction finally at having taken my shot
Cos it’s the risk that you take, not the reward that you’ve got

These are small miracles
They’re still miracles my friends
These are small miracles
They’re still miracles my friends

Close your eyes and you will see
Crazy, hazy memories
A fraction of what you used to be

Then open them to what’s around
Allow your ears to hear the sound
You’ll learn of what you are about

Lately I’ve been reeling like a ship caught in a storm
Land on the horizon but that ain’t where I’m going
Then as all hope collapses she brings to me the calm
So complete are my primal needs as I slumber in her arms

These are small miracles
They’re still miracles my friends
These are small miracles
They’re still miracles my friends
